Flocking Unloading Machine

BackgroundAn important part of the production of solar cell wafers, the flocking unloading machine is primarily responsible for removing silicon wafers from silicon wafer baskets (commonly referred to as flower baskets) and feeding them into the flocking machine before the flocking process.

The Challenge

The customer, an OEM, was looking for a solution that minimizes the chip breakage rate and delivers both positioning and repeating accuracy. The technology needs to be reliable and stable to ensure the delicate silicon wafers are not damaged during the process.

The Benefits

FLEXEMATiC solution delivers the reliability and stability required by the customer, with a chip breakage rate of ≤0.03%, increased production capacity and an improved utilization rate. In addition, the solution provides a cost saving of up to 20% compared with similar solutions. The IoT capabilities of the FLEXEMATiC HMI enables easy cloud access to on-site data, meeting the customer’s requirements for remote monitoring and program distribution.

The Solution

This solution utilizes a 16-axis FLEXEMATiC FL8-E16-D controller with FR-D1600 and FR-D0016N expansion modules, along with 2 channels of 400 W bus servos and 5 channels of 750 W brake servos from the FLEXEMATiC FV5-U3 series of rotary servos. This is combined with a FLEXEMATiC FS610R IoT touchscreen with support for tags and IoT functionalities.
