Unordered Material Sorting Machine
Background
The customer is an OEM with an unordered material sorting machine used for front-end processes in the packaging industry. It is used to organize unordered materials in a material stack into a constant interval and output them to form a queue for the next process.
The Challenge
On this particular machine, the output speed and spacing of product output need to be adjustable and accuracy is key to effective control of acceleration and deceleration of the material sorting output. The company was seeking a high value solution to enhance the performance of the machine, delivering stable, adjustable and accurate output.
The Benefits
Using FLEXEMATiC providing well-planned acceleration and deceleration, the unordered material sorting machine now delivers production efficiency of ≥180 packages/min, along with precision control of material sorting output accuracy of ≤10 mm. The FLEXEMATiC IoT HMI enables easy upload of data to the cloud, facilitating real-time monitoring and alarm notifications. In addition to the performance enhancements, the solution also provides significant cost advantages over comparable brands.
The Solution
FLEXEMATiC supplied the OEM with a 16-axis EtherCAT FL8-E16-D controller along with FR-D1600 and FR-D0016N expansion modules. The solution includes 13 units of FV5-U3 series rotary servos, with EAM series rotary motors ranging in power from 400W to 750W. The customer also selected a FLEXEMATiC FS607R IoT touchscreen, which supports both tag and IoT functionalities.
