Winding Machine

BackgroundThe customer is an OEM with a winding machine, which is an automated device typically used to wind wire (e.g. copper wire) into coils. It is widely used in the manufacturing of electronic components, such as motors, transformers, and inductors.

 


The Challenge

The customer was looking for an industrial automation solution that delivered the required precision and speed to the winding arrangement to ensure that products are consistent without affecting output quantity.


The Benefits

FLEXEMATiC provided the customer with a solution that meets the key specification of 22 pcs/min while maintaining the stability of the system operation. The FLEXEMATiC solution was selected over rival solutions for its consistency and high performance, with the FV5 servos combined with the screw structure achieving production capacity of up to 25 pcs/min. In addition, the FLEXEMATiC IoT solution is more convenient and better meets the OEM’s equipment management and production management needs. As a whole, the project delivers enhanced equipment performance alongside cost advantages for the customer.


The Solution

FLEXEMATiC supplied the OEM with a 16-axis EtherCAT FL8-E16-D controller with FR-D1600 and FR-D0016N expansion modules, paired with 6 units of FV5-U series rotary servos. The EAM series rotary motors have power ratings of 400W and 750W, and a FS607R IoT touchscreen interface is combined with the motion control solution, providing support for tags and IoT functionalities.
